Adults
This is written in addition to the practice philosophy written under "services".
I work from a developmental-attachment lens. That means, I see each of our individual lives and story in the context of developmental stages and tasks within the context of our attached relationships. How we are raised sets an initial course for our lives that follow AND we have choice, with support and learning new ways, to re-set the course of our life and the way we view our self. And our developing self is best known by the important people close to us.
In counseling I listen for elements of self-worth problems and use Brene Brown's original shame resilience model to work on striping away the layers of false beliefs we tell our selves when we are feeling particularly bad.
In cases of traumatic experience, we pace the content of sessions based on your comfort and use a variety of modalities to help lessen the impact of past trauma and loss. We can talk about what fits best for you.
I do not typically use homework in a formal way in therapy, but I'm able to provide activities and resources to use between sessions if you find that helpful.
That's a little bit about my individual adult counseling work, but I am open to answering questions via email or a short phone call or when we meet.
Welcome.
