I work in a shared office space in the Strathern community, at the top of Conner's Hill before Bonnie Doon Mall. The building is in a strip of businesses in a residential area. It is on the same block as the French Art Gallery, the Red Ox Inn. The #8 bus stops on Conner's Road a block away. The LRT is slowly developing on 95 Ave at the other end. There is free street parking in front of the building.

Counseling Fees
Counseling fees are $180 per hour.
Extended counseling session are 1.5 hours or $270.
EMDR sessions are often 1.5 hours or $270.
My reduced fee for non-profit agencies is $140.
Payment
I can direct bill Blue Cross. If you would like to use Blue Cross for the first session you can either email me the ID number, group number and your date of birth before we meet or I will get it from you at the end of the session. Any remainder owing can be paid after the session by e-transfer or with a credit card.
I can direct bill through the Non-Insured Health Benefits of the federal government for people who have a treaty status number or have a family member who has attended residential school or a family member who is a missing or murdered Indigenous woman or girl. You are welcome to text, call or email me with any questions about how this benefit works related to therapy.
Other forms of payment can include cash, check, email transfer or credit cards. I do not have a way to accept debit cards at this time. Payment can be made at the end of session. Norma or I will send an invoice if you are paying by EMT. Please pay within 24-hours to Heather@pointonthepath.com.
I can also take your credit card information to store on the software system I use. We will review the security of information storage when we meet the first time. Checks can be made out to S. W. Consulting or Heather Mackay.
All receipts will be emailed to you within 24-hours of the session. If at any time you require information about your account or dates you attended therapy, you can send an email to Heather@pointonthepath.com and I will send you a summary. On occasion insurance companies will audit claims by calling me and asking for information. I will always text or email you get permission to release that information.
Late cancellation or missed appointments
If you know you need to reschedule or cancel, please text me as soon as possible. Frequently I have someone who will take the spot if there is a few days’ notice. I do bill a full session fee for late cancellations and missed appointments. To avoid being billed for missed sessions please provide 24-hours or more notice to cancel or reschedule appointments. The only exceptions are major emergencies and extreme weather with a travel advisory. If you need to reschedule your appointment, please text or call, anytime. My phone is off after-hours, but I'll see your message first thing. Thanks for your consideration of this.
Benefits
If you are wondering if your benefits will pay for counseling you can ask your insurance company if they cover services provided by a "Registered Clinical Social Worker" or sometimes they'll refer to us as "a social worker with an MSW".
I am a Registered Clinical Social Worker (RSW, #5864; RCSW, #16325) with a Masters of Social Work (MSW). I am regulated by the Alberta College of Social Workers. I will provide you with an electronic receipt with my RSW number on it that you can use to submit or prove services were provided.
