Mask Policy
Original Policy: March 14, 2022. Policy reviewed Sept 26, 2022 and April 20, 2023.
Rationale: It is my obligation as a professional social worker to ensure that my office is safe for all people who are attending in office visits. Covid-19 variants continue to evolve. Newer variants may have serious consequences to those who are unvaccinated or more vulnerable people including children, elders and immunosuppressed people of all ages. Everyone is at risk for the potential of long-haul covid regardless of whether a current variant is mild or not. Our health care system continues to be overwhelmed at all levels.
Scientists from multiple fields (epidemiology, infection specialists, aerosol experts) agree that a respirator-type mask-N95/ KN95 and similar- are one of the important layers of protection in reducing the spread of Covid-19, particularly the Omicron variants.
In summertime, I can keep the air in my office clear with air filters and regularly leaving the front door open to allow the exchange of air.
Policy: All those choosing in-office appointments may chose to wear a mask or not. Masking in the office in the summer months is optional.
Process: Masks will be provided to all those who would like to mask in session. Masks are available on the front table in the waiting area. If you would like an CAND-94 respirator mask, I can provide you with one.
If you are symptomatic, please wear a mask. If you notice you are symptomatic, I may request you wear a mask. I may mask in sessions if I am symptomatic or if I am feeling cautious related to immunocompromised people in my life.
If you have questions about this policy, please direct your questions to me.
